SCIENTISTS FROM 36 COUNTRIES CAME TOGETHER IN IĞDIR
The International Congress on Health Tourism and Health Sciences was successfully hosted by Iğdır University under the theme “Gateway to the Caucasus.” The congress brought together scientists from Türkiye and 35 other countries, with a total of 318 scientific papers presented.
The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Ekrem GÜREL, Rector of Iğdır University; Prof. Dr. Gülengül MERMER, President of the Congress Organizing Committee and Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; Dr. Mustafa Latif EMEK, President of IKSAD; representatives of the provincial protocol, academics, and students.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Ekrem GÜREL highlighted the university’s activities in the field of health tourism and Iğdır’s significant potential in this area. Referring particularly to ongoing efforts to integrate the Tuzluca Salt Caves into health tourism, Prof. Dr. Gürel shared the university’s vision of developing Iğdır into an internationally recognized destination for health and wellness.
Prof. Dr. Gülengül MERMER provided information on the scientific scope and international character of the congress. She stated that the program included 318 scientific papers—152 from Türkiye and 166 from 35 other countries—and emphasized the importance of bringing together scientists from different parts of the world in Iğdır.
Dr. Mustafa Latif EMEK, President of IKSAD, emphasized the importance of introducing Iğdır’s scientific, cultural, and strategic potential to international academic platforms. He also stated that IKSAD’s global scientific cooperation networks would continue to be actively utilized in developing new academic collaborations with Iğdır University.
